擔心退伍後找不到工作，不少義務役士兵現在都抱持著「簽下去」的想法，轉為變成志願役，因為待在軍中不但有保障，還不必擔心被裁員。而且他們的擔心的確其來有自，觀察今年軍中所辦的就業博覽會，前來徵人的廠商硬生生少一半。
為了服務即將退伍的士兵，軍中每年都會舉辦就業博覽會，今年從2月11日展開，有台中、花蓮、高雄、林口共4場。也許是受到不景氣的影響，今年的就業博覽會廠商硬是比去年少一半，尤其是高科技產業，只有2、3家，其他都是底薪2萬多的保險業務或是殯葬業。
以前，軍中會拼命說服義務役官兵「簽下去就對了！」，從義務役轉為志願役，現在，不用人講，已經有不少義務役官兵已經「簽下去」了。以中士為例，一個月大約有3萬多的薪水，比起一般社會新鮮人起薪好很多，就算是一等兵，也不用擔心被裁員，還有三節獎金以及正常休假。
軍中穩定飯碗有保障，難怪不少面臨退伍的弟兄都紛紛向軍中單位反映，不退伍要繼續留在營中，就算外頭景氣再差，也不用擔心未來沒工作。(新聞來源：東森新聞記者柯映青、洪杰民)
